The problem is why they ONLY date white guys, and disregard every asian guy period. I don't have a problem with a white guy and asian girl, I DO have a problem when the asian girl ONLY goes for white guys. The asian girls have this look like, "You can't have me" or "I'm better than you", and many times their attitudes reflect that.
If they have these attitudes, they are no different than the "white chicks" who go after the bling and rich guys. Women who get everything based on how they look. I wonder where they will be in 5-10 years when the years start showing and they need to compete with the younger crowd.

Still, talk about double-edged swords. I'm white, my wife is Japanese, my kid is mixed. A mixed couple gets it from all sides:

1. Haters (asian males) who dislike asian women with white guys.
2. Haters (non-asians mostly, but some asians too) who think: "He couldn't get a white girl, so he settled for 'less'"
3. Ignorant people who just say the most stupid things.

What follows is not really a response to YeLLoWs2knVA, but a general comment:

Since I have been around and among asians for practically all my life, I have plenty of anecdotal evidence for things (stereotypes) mentioned here and elsewhere. Before anyone gets a rise out of what I am going to say, I freely admit these are only my observations, and I am not claiming to be the end authority (or any authority for that matter) on asian life in the US.

Asian women are golddiggers? Not really. The term "high maintenance" was not originally invented to describe asian women. Granted, a lot of them like the bling and designer stuff, and in Japan at least, materialism is king. If you doubt that, look up "compensated dating" or kogal" sometime. Louis Vuitton, Coach and other designers consider Japan to be one of (if not the) biggest markets. When I grew up and went to high school in the mid 80's, I was hanging out with the Japanese-american community. Things were much different back then and more low-key. Everyone drove the family "beater" back then. Now I see many cases of what appears to be "conspicuous consumption." Frankly, I don't know or care where college and HS aged asian "kids" get the money to buy S2000's or even NSX's - and then mod them. I'm not jealous, but I do know that didn't happen in the mid-80's and there were lots of well-to-do Korean and Japanese families in my area. Yeah, there are rich white kids with Bimmers, but I notice them a lot less.

Asian women are submissive? (I hear this a lot) Ha! Hahaha! HAHAHAHA!!!! Yeah, right. Actually in Japanese households, women hold the real power. My house is no exception and she reminds me of that fact quite often. I'd prefer to replace "submissive" with "jealous".

Asian males having problems with asian females dating non-asians. Well as a group, asian males get dumped on pretty hard by the media and popular culture. I did know several asian females that said they preferred non-asians. These women were all foreign born who were now living in the US. They always had something disparaging to say about their asian male counterparts- which I thought was odd because much of what they were complaining about applied to non-asian males too. The only asian guy I talked to about this didn't seem to care. He preferred well-endowed blondes, and said that is was quite rate to find a white female that would even consider dating an asian male. Still, I think asian males have it pretty hard (or at least a harder time) on the dating scene. At least the asian americans who have been here a while (came before their teens) or american born asian males do. I have no idea what is happening among the recent immigrants. As an interesting sidenote, black women tend to dislike black males who date outside their race too.

As a last comment, I've known quite a few mixed couples. They don't tend to last very long. The majority of the ones that I knew either broke up or ended in divorce. Almost always this was due in part to cultural differences. My wife and I have been going on now for 11 years. Part of that is that I respect the Japanese culture, speak and read some of the language, eat the food and enjoy what I can of it. The other part of it is that she is free to be who she wants, as Japanese or American as she likes. The kid has dual US-Japanese citzenship and she is growing up bilingual watching Sesame Street, Dora, Inai inai Baaa! and Okaasan to Isshou.

So much for the threadjack...

On another note, there are A LOT of white girls who date black guys these days. Some of the clubs I've been to, there were some of the prettiest white girls there who were with black guys. White guys in there must've felt a little "envious" or something. More each day, I see many, many white girls with black guys these days. I also see more and more white girls with Asian guys, not nearly as many as black guys but it increases more and more.
