Default Strange first names of possible tenants....

I deal a fair amount with Section 8 (assisted housing) which is mostly fairly young black girls. They sometimes have the strangest names. I would be pretty pissed at my parents if they named me something really odd.

Shamica, Tanisha, Tamika, Zayika, Makeva, Tyisha, Queen, etc....

Wonder if this helps or hurts them when or if they ever apply for a real job?

Yo Yo Yo... .my names is Zayika.....

My wife works at a hospital. Her nurse friend works in labor and delivery. How'd do like to hand a mother her new baby twins.... Le'monjello and Or'angejello. Basically they were named after lemon and orange jello. No I did not make this up.

That is made up, I haerd the same story from someone else.

I don't like making fun of someone's name, no matter how made up they are because at some point someone made up the names John, Gary, Fred, Bob etc....
Though there is a guy locally with the name Stuart Pid, and a local radio station had a happy hour with him as the guest of honor and handed out "I'm with Stu Pid" t-shirts.

That being said.........there was a young girl on an episode of Maury Povich that was named Takeela.

There were several guys in my hotel room having a couple beers and every time the camera went onto Takeela, everyone in the room started imitating the song "Tequila". (the Pee Wee Herman "Big Shoe Dance" saxaphone song)

i wasn't trying make fun of their name to hurt anyone, but what the hell were the parents thinking (or drinking)?

We had a friend named William T. Williams (deceased)..... WTF!!! Of all the first names in the world why would they pick William? He said it was greatest injustice his parents could do to him.

I never heard that about the jello twins, but I certainly wouldn't put it past people...... I have all kinds of goofy names saved on my Cell phone from a recent vacancy......

I think people have the right to name their kids anything they want to, (no matter how stupid it may be) but I would agree with you on the injustice part. A kid at my highschool had the last name Savage and his parents named him "Harry". They also let thier kids drop out of high school at 16 which was legal in this state with parental consent.

But as far as doing your kid a disservice, I would think you can have the brightest kid in the world and she goes for that first job interview after getting out of college and she could either have the name "Michelle" or "Fa-qui-kwa"...... I am guessing she has a better shot with "Michelle". That may not be right but that is probably the way it is.
