If you opened the attachment, there is a good chance your computer is now infected with a virus.

Use a good on-line, current virus checker to see.

NEVER open executable attachments, or really any attachments, from folks you do not know.

Here are some online virus dectection site:

I delete everything from my Yahoo bulk mail folder every Monday morning. This morning I deleted 122 junk e-mails and many of them were like this. When I had a Hotmail account that was linked to a website I would get 200 to 300 each day and at least half of them were porn related. At that time I had no bulk mail filter and I missed some important things by deleting anything I thought might be trash.

That doesn't answer your question though. Maybe switch to an account with automatic filtering?

I think both Yahoo and Hotmail offer to block e-mails from certain senders. You might be able to set up some filtering criteria on other mail systems to get rid of them for you.

Another thing you can sometimes do is since they generally blind cc: you on these things set up a filter to move everything you are blind cc:'d on to a spam folder and then only peruse that for people you know. That works well in Notes mail and Outlook which don't have the same level of spam filtering as the online mails do.

The one good side of all that spam? My penis is 4" larger now!!
