check out and see what people have to say on www.devshed.com - of course, not .asp pages on devshed as most are php/cfml type of sites.

I dont prefer dellhost - and that is because its not by dell its another company that was outsourced for dell for the purpose of making money with the dell name. it works, and works well for what it is, but reliability can be iffy at times.

whatever you choose or think about going with I suggest you check into www.deja.com and see what people have to say (or have said) about the hosting provider by searching through the newsgroups.

to give you an idea, www.bulletproofautomotive.com is hosted at dellhost.com, and works rather well so far - lots of space, but my ferrari site, it only needs barely a few hundred K - TOPS! so I have it setup on a guy's system for about 5 bucks a month. works rather well for what it does and includes ssh as well.

I have a friend who has just started a hosting service oriented towards small businesses. I can wholeheartedly recommend him and his partner; They know their stuff and are very customer service oriented. Let me know if you want more details and I'll get you in touch with him. He's based out of the San Fernando Valley.

If your friend is planning on an asp-driven site, I can recommend readyhosting.com. They've got the best deal I've seen yet.

and nope, not my car, its Ben's - I just toy with the site, he's the guy behind the business.

and btw, credit card ordering - might want to start with paypal at first until the cost is justifyable / traffic is steady or else a merchant account can be expensive, 50 bucks a month typically gets you in the door.

JT-KGY,

what kind of needs does your friend have? and bandwith requirements? i'm not familiar with a lot of "high traffic" online stores, so i'm wondering roughly how much of an investment he's looking at

and is he looking for design as well? PM me if you don't feel comfortable posting all the info on the board.

I guess paypal is still cheaper.. but I hate to ask every
customer who wishes to pay online to register at paypal..
and they are increasing their prices too.. to 2.9%...
