Default super long obituaries?

Our newspaper used to offer free obituaries but they were limited to about 3 paragraphs. a while ago they started to charge for everything and for some reason that has led people to write a book about the deceased.

These things are now 10+ paragraphs about the first time they shit in the toilet to the last time they shit in a toilet (get it...they were in diapers and then got back into diapers... ).

anyway.... is there some guilty conscience in people to try to tell the entire world what all accomplishments a relative had after their death? it is a nice gesture but they are so ****ing long no one will read all of it unless they have insomnia...?

Scot was an asshole. He is pretty sure he was the first person to hit the rev limiter in reverse in a honda S2000 at 47mph. He stalked C_Stan (formally know as C_Unit) for a while and liked to beat off. He had a hell of a handshake but horribly thick contact lenses. His ashes will be scattered all over yo momma's house

I don't read any of them.

Mine should go something like this.

John died. He was old. It happens. The End.

Missing the following details:
  • Introduced numerous families to low income, slumlord run housing
  • Purposely spelled his name with one T so he couldspend his entire life correcting people around him

Am I missing any?

This goes back to our weird culture of memorialization. Roadside shrines, dedications, blah blah blah blah. . .

. . . I understand that some cultures and some religious beliefs regard death a little differently than I do. Fine. However, such things demand some fairly structured behavior, which is a stark contrast to the crap I see on the roadsides, obits, and iron-on T-shirts. . .

That said, "Scot was a douchebag par excellence. He will be survived by his children from loving wife___ and Tastee."
