Lots of people in recent years have commented that full-size SUVs are misused, that many people buy them to "be fashionable" even though they almost never go off-road or carry more than a few passengers. SUV sales kept rising regardless.

Now, sales of the best selling Explorer are off 16 percent, and "cute utes" seem to be more popular than the big gas guzzlers. Will this trend continue?

We can only hope. I hate looking around those 12 mile wide pieces of crap to see what's in front of them.

I do find them annoying when they take away your visibility.

I have no love for suv's, unless I need one to haul some crap around.

Hehe - I got rid of a sport-ute to get my S2K. I still miss the utility part, but I wouldn't change my decision.

I drove the new Chevy Avalanche yesterday and while I hate big SUV's/trucks I really liked this brute. This thing is truely useful. It'll haul or tow damn near anything and it's not too hard to park. I hate the fact you can hide the S2K from it's rearview so easy though.

It looks like this might end up as our horse and race car trailer puller.

At least you, unlike 99% of current SUV owners, have a legitimate use for a large truck.

As Dennis Miller said, Why does every Excursion have an Earth First sticker on it?

I hate SUVs. The drivers in them think they can go anywhere since they are so big. Most of them drive like IDIOTS!!! That's one of the reasons why I got the FIAMM air horns for my car. Now, I can blast them when they start drifting over.
