Default suv rant

wtf is with the suv driver "I'm bigger so I rule the road" mentality? So I am leaving chick filet today after lunch and I am exiting the parking lot. An excursion proceeds to enter in the exit lane leaving both of us at a standoff. She proceeds to honk her horn and wave her hands trying to get me to move. Last time I checked we all drive on the right side of the road. So, being the stubborn person I am and trying to teach this woman a lesson I park my car where it sits, get out and go up to her window and tell her that she better back out and try entering on the right side. She tells me that her vehicle is to big to back up and can't fit that way which is BS because I've seen tractor trailers enter the same spot to make their deliveries. I then ask, If you can't drive your big @ss vehicle maybe you should get a smaller one right. She then starts yelling every curse word in the book while backing her suv up. Wait a second... She backed up after telling me it was impossible, imagine that. I win!

You mentioned two key words that everyone should pay attention too... "SUV" and "SHE"

oh and the same holds true that everyone who backs into a parking space is an idiot.

seems a little unnecessary, but I'm right with you there on the rant. When do the beatings start? Dang Ford Valdez.

I also hate how these people can't park properly when they do and they park their GD vehicles to one side of their space leaving no room to get a car in. So when I'm in my beater I park in those spots anyway. I park so close that it makes it almost impossible for them to get in their vehicles because they won't be able to open the door. My beater looks like crap so I don't worry if they ding it or anything.

Being an SUV driver myself, I have to agree with what you've said. However, I find the same problem with large luxury car drivers as well. It's almost like they think because they have a more expensive car than yours, they have the right of way all the time. I used to be a truck driver and am pretty good on how I back into spaces and my driveway all the time. You are right in telling her that if it is too big, she should get something a little more manageable for her to maneuver. My sister has a 4 door Explorer and I wouldn't trust her driving me anywhere, especially when she is on her cell phone (ARGH!!!!).

What about those mo-fo's that feel like they need to swing out to the right when they are making a left turn? I usually like to sneak by on the shoulder but this guy in an explorer instead of hugging the center line starts easing over towards the shoulder. I'm like WTF it's not a tractor trailor. Just turn the vehicle like a normal person.

As an SUV driver let me say that generalizing all SUV drivers to be the same defeats your argument. Just as there are different attitudes among S2000 drivers, there are a full spectrum of attitudes among SUV drivers.

Take me for example. While driving my SUV I would never cut someone off or in anyway endanger them. I'd go ahead and crush their sorry ashes and blow them off the road. Oh, and while racing those sorry little POS cars for the last parking place in the garage I'd expell enough exhaust to gag a maggot.

We're all guilty of the same things. Only the degree separates us.

I've been debating this whole SUV vs. the World thing with a good friend of mine a while ago. I believe that a SUV gives a false sense of security to its driver, granted it his big and heavy, but do you really need to drive a tank to feel safe? I do not own a S2K (although I really would like to) I actually own a 2002 Jetta 1.8T, of which, I have manuevered my way out of several accidents. Every time I go to L.A. I see soccer moms, business men, and valley girls talking on there phones and not paying attention to the roadds. I had to wait in a parking for 10 minutes to get out cause some Asian lady in a full sized Suburban could not see behind her and made a 15-point reverse pull out. It's coo to drive a SUV, but if you cant drive it properly you put yourself and everybody on the road in more danger compared to if you were driving a 79' Pinto (which were known to explode when hit from the rear)

Some people are just inconsiderate pricks.

Was walking across the street once, in a crosswalk, and some asshole in a nice BMW felt like he could just ignore the limit line and completely block the cross walk. I went around the front of him, staring at him and ran my fingers across his hood as I walked by. He kind of gave me a WTF look, and I continued to just stare at him even as I passed his car. He had his cell phone crammed in his ear and his window up, or else I would have gave him a nice verbal <^> {*_*} <^>
