SwirlyMMS on Iphone 3G
I've searched google for hours. All the forums I've found are very old regarding this problem. I'm running 3.0 jailbroken and have downloaded SwirlyMMS. I know you have to have AT&T change some settings. I've found way to many ways to make it work that don't actually seem to work. Has anybody done this recently and have gotten it to work? If so, how? AT&T in their infinite wisdom has for some reason chosen not to allow MMS even though 3.0 offers it. I'm tired of my friends who have crappy phones laugh because the all mighty iphone can't do something that simple.
I never had any problems though I was using the Tmobile network. All you need is the mmsc, proxy and APN. Not sure if that helps or if anything different is needed still using ATTs network.
I got a question. Is the Iphone 3gs worth getting? I have Tmobile and want the iphone but I have heard you can't get mms texting untell they update it after spring. After reading this I may just pick up a 3G unlocked and Jailbroken and call it a day.

The 3gs still doesnt have the capabilities for MMS... actually let me rephrase that, it has the capability just AT&T hasnt gotten their butts in gear to be able to support MMS on the phone. My personal opinion, get a regular 3g (mainly because you can probably get one cheap off of craigslist since the 3gs is out now) keep tmobile and unlock the phone. Main reason being Tmobile plans are cheaper then AT&T.. If you have an Iphone and AT&T, your bill is NOT going to be under $100. If you need help with jailbreaking, visit My Webpage. There is a tutorial on how to do it yourself. Hope this helps!
MMS should be turned on in the next month or two. The iphone is too good in other areas for me to worry about a feature that I would use only once every month or so. AT&T does suck, but I would rather deal with them and get the full capability of my phone instead of having EDGE speeds on t-mobile.

You should also tell him that he also won't get 3G speeds on t-mobile. Also, my wife has a 3G with AT&T and her total bill with taxes and everything is around $84/month, so it's quite possible to have an iphone on AT&T for under $100/month AND you get the faster speeds you don't get with t-mobile. My company pays for mine so I don't know how much it is.

However I disagree as far as far as what you say about 3g speed. I had a 1st generation iphone which was unlocked so I could use it with my tmobile account, and it was maybe 2 seconds slower then my buddies 3g iphone using att as far as loading webpages, youtube videos.. etc...

I will retract my statement as far as the billing... the lowest plan is 450 minutes for 39.99, you are required to have unlimited data for $30 a month so 70 a month plus taxes and all probably as you said about $84 a month...however for me, I had to have unlimited text which is an extra $20 a month... with unlimited text its about 110.00...

Maybe 3G sucks in your area, but in most places it's a big improvement over EDGE. I know I can tell a big difference when I'm in an area that doesn't have 3G.
i also have iphone 3g 3.0 unlocked and with some modification on mms proxy and apn i can send pics but not receive them. any suggestions? i did have swirymms on 2.2.1 os but it won't install again on 3.0.
tmobile 3g isn't the fastest. i had google phone for awhile and wasn't much faster.

To receive the messages AT&T will have to make a change on their system to send the messages to your phone instead of their stupid website they use now. I don't know if you can call and have them do that or if you will just have to wait until they get off their asses and do it later this summer.
