Post taking it back a few years...

A few years ago, I used to be realllly into the RC Drift scene. I am even a moderator over on the drift RC forums. lol, then I got my AP1 and these things collected dust. I have made a few cars for some friends and whatnot, but I was debating whether or not I should pull mine out and make a replica of my car (which I did, scroll to the bottom for pics)

some of the cars I had:

real carbon fiber hood..

even got a truck for a little fun

$500 rc car...

thennnnnnn............. I eventually made a 1:10 replica which I presented at HIN 2008.

That S2000 with the CF hood is sweet! I see a nice fan on the $500 car for cooling, pretty neat. What was roughly the top speed of this car?

lol, thanks. The carbon fiber were actually thin sheets of woven carbon fiber (like $20 for 8.5"x11") and it was layered under the clear shell of the car. As for the matching pieces, they were all anodized aluminum pieces that were available for the chassis, at that time. I remember those little things were pretty pricey. the Anodized Aluminum TRF liquid filled shocks cost me about $75.

as for the motor, it was running on a Novak 5800 series brushless motor (roughly $200 back then, iono bout now). Don't quite recall the top speed, but that thing had craploads of torque for the size of the RC car. I only used rubber tires for short periods of time to have fun zooming up and down the street, but for the most part, I was drifting the car.
