Taking A Shot ~ American Airlines lost bags
So i'm back from a ski trip with 51 people on American Airlines. We flew back from Gunnison Colorado yesterday and missed our connection in Dallas FW. American Airlines (AA) had some mechanical issues with the flight before us and we landed 2 hours late in Dallas.
On the flight the AA people couldn't tell us if they were holding the plane in Dallas a quick look on my blackberry showed that flight took off on time, they were never holding the plane... why not just tell us?
Moving on... AA lost 51 ski bags (everyone on the trip) and after 24 hours they still don't know where any of them are, can't tell us if they even left Gunnison, what's the point in paying $40 in extra baggage and putting bar codes on the bags if they still don't know where 51 bags are?
Anyway... I'd love to write AA and vent but i'm sure they get 500 letters just like mine everyday.
Any suggestions? Anyone been through this before?

it's only been a day? i say wait another day, especially if you're at home and don't really need your stuff yet. i've had airlines lose bags before, and they usually drive it out to me the next day.
51 lost bags does sound a little ridiculous, though. and i've always wondered how they could not know where bags are w/a barcode system. i used to work w/tracking mfg production using barcodes and they are pretty helpful in immediately telling where things are...biggest problem would be movement in between scans i guess. or if they are just there for show, haha

They'll probably find them, otherwise you could rebuy them cheap at the yearly unclaimed baggage sale.

I've had my baggage lost by the airline before, it usually takes a couple days till they find out where it is. I'm sure if 51 baggages got lost at the same time either they are still at the original location or got sent elsewhere by accident.
Good luck!
Good luck!
24 hours and they usually drive it to you. That is a lost oversized container, prob on wrong flight, but out of gunnysack, good luck. I watched the carts run *around* two sets of skis that fell off a cart for hours in Denver once.
