Test drove the 330Ci that I had ordered.
Came in earlier this week.
Impressions:
Looks great with the spoiler. Black on black. Everything on it minus the navigation.
The car smelled great and the interior was very luxo compared to the S2000. You all know how that goes.
Now the drive. Felt like a tank. Heavy and a bit cumbersome. It's probably because I'm so used to the S2000. The shifter was smooth, but felt like a row boat. The steering definitely did feel overboosted as compared to the E36 M3. The clutch engagement is less finicky than the S2000's. The throttle pressure felt weird due to its electronic inputs. The seats were well-padded, but I found the driving position in the S2000 to be much more intimate and driver-focused.
The torque was there, but not all that much better than the S2000. Pretty quiet engine as well, although it is louder than the 328.
Hard to compare, but the S2000 is definitely the more ultimate DRIVING experience. I'm glad I chose the way I did. Thanks to all those who dissuaded me from getting the Bimmer.
But I will probably end up with one after the S2000.

The S2K still seems pretty fancy to me. My idea of a truly minimalist roadster would be one that you washed with the top down, simply hosing out the interior without damage. Would anyone here want a car with no amenities at all?

Any new(01) M3 at the dealer where you purchase your 330i? I've been lookin for a week now in Chicago and CAN'T find one for a reasonable price. If they have one in stock, it's 10K over MSRP. I'm frustrated, can't wait any longer, must have M3 NOW
