I create a thread with a poll merely so that I can see all of the colors employed in the poll-results bar chart.

I give the thread a name which clearly indicates its utter lack of importance to anyone else.

I pose no question, the better to ensure that nobody will be tempted to answer it.

I conceive the most innocuous list of options, to further discourage spurious votes.

Finally, I underscore my seriousness by reemphasizing, in the body of the thread, that I truly intended that everyone ignore it.

And yet, despite my most strident efforts, three people have cast votes.

I just don't get it.
