Texan View On Terrorism
This was too good not to post!
Letter to the DENTON RECORD CHRONICLE from Dwight Crawford Sr. of Sanger, Texas:
TERRORISM-WHAT IS THAT?
I get a big laugh at the dialogue of Osama bin Laden, the Taliban, politicians, and the news media. They say terrorists will hit us again in the oncoming weeks and months. What a joke!
You have a better chance of getting killed on Interstate 35E than by a terrorist.
Osama has probably seen 100 degree plus summers in Afghanistan, but he doesn

The police in Texas are just like others I have had the pleasure of meeting. Just depends on the day they are having. I have found that in Texas (other than some very small towns around College Station) they are pretty relaxed on driving transgressions. You need to stand out to attract some attention.
As for Texas in general. Its the only state where I have seen:
High school football stadiums seat over 15,000 and rivaly tickets can be sacalped. When I moved down the first time I saw the stadium and asked the real estate agent what JUCO supported the field. She laughed and said it was for high school.
State play offs held at Texas Stadium will draw about 50,000
You usually see a Texas State flag were ever you see a US Flag.
After the singing of the Star Spangled Banner at a state college event you sing Oh Texas, My Texas (the state song).
When I lived in Plano and the state football championship was in Austin the QB club put "Wild cat paws" on every mile marke (214 miles) between Plano and Austin.
An undying attitued that the rights of the individual transcend the rights of any govenrnment.
I have never lived any where that has as much state pride (read ego) as Texas. It is very interesting.
