Cipro will treat some bacterial infections and even some food-borne illnesses but after that long of a time I would have done some testing (stool studies) before giving any antibiotic. Resistence is growing, it is only a matter of time before we select out a bacteria that we cannot kill.

By the way, the "flesh eating bacteria" is a form of Strep. It is easily treated with antibiotics if caught early. Usually it attacks very rapidly (a matter of hours) and requires extensive debridement (surgery).
