Fletch: A freind of my wife has a similar issue as your wife (unstable diabetes). I saw here glance at the monitor while at the bar one night then adjust the control on her waist band. I thought she had an old school pager. She then told me about the monitor and insulin pump she was using. She said it was amazing what they learned about her insulin level trends and her ability to control it. She said that before getting the device, the disease was really having a negative effect on her ability to carry on a "normal" lifestyle. The setup was really unobrusive and I really only noticed it since I was sitting next to her in the booth.

I'm an ophthalmology tech and if you know anything about eye clinics, the techs do all the work and the ophthalmologists just sign off on their work. Ask me anything.

I was being sarcastic mostly, ophthalmology is extremely competitive and only comes second to dermatology.

the docs I work with push these:

Icaps

Ultimately a healthy lifestyle overall will work out to your benefit. No smoking, balanced diet, research suggests that sunglasses cuts risk for macular degeneration. A lot of problems you have no real control over and can be mostly hereditary.

I'm sure s2020 has better advice.

Thanks guys for the well wishes, and thanks Dick for the P.P.P.S, but the rest of it is hardly getting anyone anywhere, is it ?
Unless you want to be alienated by 90% of the forum in your first 2 months of membership of course.

Anyway ......
[QUOTE=S2020,Aug 22 2008, 04:57 AM]Fletch, good luck with your wife's health.

As I said before, the nurse that I know is very brittle, the continuous monitoring pump is a tech marvel and should help her quite a bit. I frigging hate diabetes. I hope this pump helps her in the battle against the disease.
