Default Are these crickets or grasshoppers or ?

Usually I have a live and let live attitude towards bugs. But I've never seen these before and I'm curious if they are about to eat my plants. Any ideas?

Thanks

Edit: I still don't know what they are, but they eat really freaking fast and they die really freaking slowly when soaked with Sevin and some other chemical (I had the Sevin and Dean had the other and we blasted the bastards). Will check in a bit to see how many survived. There were tons of them. Not appreciated after replanting from everything having frozen this winter.

I think they look cool... better than the ones we have here in VA that are just green. Also alot better than those half spider, half cricket things. Those things are gross....

We usually have those giant green grasshoppers. This is the first time to see these in the near 5 years that we've been here. We also have a million lizards and tons of ibises and other birds that I would have expected to feast on these little bastards, but they didn't.
