100k gross a day means 1 person going into the door every 6 seconds for 24 hrs.

to keep that rate up u need a line of people filing through that mcd door non stop 24 hrs.

ive been to times sq. the mcds are busy but not that busy constantly 24 hrs.

if you squeeze the time down to 16 hrs thats even harder.

Rule #1 in business.....

There are NO stupid rich people.

They might not know the names of 9 planets, but you cannot get rich by being stupid.
You dont have to "get" rich to "be" rich. Billy Maddison may only be a movie but dont think it doesn't happen all around you.

No no...I am not talking about someone like Paris Hilton. I am talking about someone who either had a little money or nothing, and became rich. Impossible to do if you are stupid.

Ok I thought that was your point but you're making a blanket statement still. Ever here of the lottery

Yes, but remember, a lot of corporate people go down ( like one person) and order lunch for 50 coworkers. You cant count averages. The least a person can spend is about 4-7 bucks, but there are a lot of people who spend well over 50. Trust me bro....I know certain managers at these places, and its EASILY believable.

Hell, the bar I manage, at out old location.....a busy night would be about 300-400 people, and we pulled in EASY 10-13 grand.

I have an aquaitance that has a bar, he pulls in over 20 grand a night (thursday through saturday) NYC is a VERY different place.

I have been in the business field for a number of years, especially the hospitality industry (hotel, restaurant, bar, casino, cruise)....and am opening up my own bar within the next year.

A bar in NYC (90% of the time) will either go out of business within a year, or make the owner a multimillionaire. There is no gray area. Its a black or white business.

Back to McDs, to sell 100K gross.....a day....

You need about 10K customers spending about 10 bucks, but really....many people spend more.....construction workers, tourists, corporate offices...etc.....

The Matco and Snap-On guys come around all the time, but they're always trying to get me to take tools and not pay for them now, they're always like "use it for a while, see if you like it, then we'll talk". Of course I'll like it...lol, then I'm stuck with the payments for however long. Sheesh.

Try tossing in at least $200,000 in inventory just to get started. But yes, it is very profitable.

...and that thing about Small business in New Orleans. Have you walked in the French Quarter? There are more Goth stores in New Orleans than spam in Hawaii. You would blend in so bad there. You need some kind of differentiation. Try doing multiple things, like engraving products that you sell. Don't market the store as a goth store; I would not visit your establishment in that case. If it also sold t-shirts from many popular bands, then I'd visit and maybe pick up a few things. Think about a section with women's delicates. Make sure you're different from all the other goth-type stores.

Oh and on Wall Street, there is a waitstaff at Mcdonalds. Prices are probably a bit higher.

One bit of advice I haven't seen in this thread, but it's crucial, is a BUSINESS PLAN!

The finacial analysis spreadsheet will show you if your good idea is a sound business opportunity. Like anything, a business plan is only as good as the information you feed it so be honest! Have the plan reviewed by the SBA, Banks, or anyone running a business willing to look at it. Even if you plan to capitalize it yourself, you'll always learn something by having those with experience try to rip it apart.

Good Luck,

I won't advertise on the forum, but I can offer something you may be interested in that requires very low startup costs. PM me & I'll send you a link [no, it's not THAT!].

Cheers
