Canada provides most of our oil imported, I don't think they want to kill us... And if we went with your plan, they'd be providing all of the uranium for the nuclear plants as well.

I generally think nuclear power is a good idea, but all the problems associated with it are far from solved, and it still leaves us with a dependence on foreign energy.

Manufacturing goods ourselves vs. buying them from abroad is a different issue entirely.
