I still like alot of my ps2 games; for this reason, I think I want the 80 gig for it's backwards compatibility... not to mention more storage...

for those of you with a ps3... which size did you buy, and if you have a 40 gig, do you miss the backwards compatiblility?

80GB and the 60GB versions have backwards compatibility (I own the 60GB).

Although I rarely play PS2 games, I'd be upset if I couldn't on my ps3.

i have my ps2 sitting about a foot away from my ps3. i guess it would suck if i had a bunch of games but i actually just bought my ps2 about a year and 3 months ago and i only bought it so i could play gran turismo 4. i rarely ever play it now but if i feel the urge then i can push the power button and go to town. thats the nice thing about owning a new flat screen. i have my pc, my wii, my ps3, and my ps2 all hooked into it at the same time. now i just need cable

if you are going to buy hdmi cables, I would goto blue jean cable's website. High quality stuff and a heck of a lot cheaper than the junk you buy in the electronics store. Also, the cables aren't made in China like everything else these days.

If I am not mistaken, the 60gig is no longer sold... and rumor has it that the 80gb bundle, with a copy of Spiderman3 on blu-ray included, is about to be phased out... to be replaced with a 120gb version for approx. the same price. I think I may hold out for that one.

The official word from Sony is that the new replacement for the 80gb is this:

MGS4 Bundle
DualShock3 controller
80gb hard drive.

In other words, all the rumors that Sony is putting in a larger HDD is false. Check out Engadget and do a search--I believe Sony announced this about a week ago. I think that this is an attractive bundle, since you get the new DS3 controller and MGS4 as well. I dont think this comes out later this spring though.

$70 hdmi cables FTL!

monoprice.com FTW!! (~$3+ 1.3 hdmi cables, prices increase as wire length increases. excellent cables, excellent price.)

i'd order from monoprice, and as soon as the cables came in, go back to Best Buy and exchange those cables for another game.
