Time to get rid of the Ed Hardy shirts...
I bartend part time and see all different styles/trends on all kinds of people. Im pretty tolerant (although I really don't care for hipsters/scene kids) and am more interested in the person wearing them. That said..
With todays connectivity there really aren't any defining or set "trends" that must be adhered to. Think 70s bellbottoms, 60s minis, 80s members only, etc.
Wear what you like and what you think looks good. Obviously there are limits, but most people are pretty reasonable and want to look good - find a style and roll with it. Mix and match. Change it up.
IMO the worst you can do is 'typecast' yourself by limiting what you wear. The BEST dressers are those that can adapt without being something they're not or trying too hard.
Like cars - a lot is left up to individual interpretation. Its like talking to someone with a V6 Accord that's got "get up and go" so its "fast".
Follow the basics (no socks with sandals, belt and shoe color match, etc.) in formal situations and don't be afraid to have fun with it in casual/social enviroments.

i think the NE trends just take a while to move south/west, but around here in the dirty south, kkakis/polo/sperrys screams frat or frat wannabe.

I see plenty of Douche-Hardy shirts here at work with customers. Gotta love working for a Luxury car dealership......and having an Ed Hardy store in the local mall
Alot of people around here joke about some of the clubs downtown Baltimore, that guys can't get in unless they are wearing an Ed Hardy or Affliction shirt.....which is why you'll never see me in the club
