Hi Ryan, you are doing good at your age. I got my first car (new) with no co-signer on a First Time Buyer program. I was 21yrs old at the time after finishing up my education and only been working for about 6 months. I didn't think I was going to be able to buy a car on my own but everything worked out. I got a loan for 22k for my Eclipse through a small local bank in my area. I would check around for Dealers that have a First Time Buyer's program. I found a dealer that was willing to work with me after they got to know me. I spent a lot of time around the dealer and they saw that I wanted the car. I think you will have no problems getting into a S2000 or another nice car. At 21yrs old I wasn't making half the money you are making now. Just like Junk said someone out there wants your money.

American Honda has excellent programs with great interest rates. You might want to see if you can get financed directly through them if you are purchasing from a dealer. Plus, the dealer gets a kickback if you finance through them so they will be more likely to cut you a better deal. Trust me, I sold cars, new and used for a while. Used cars is where they make the money. They have a lot of financial headroom in used cars so they are more willing to bargain.

Dude,

About a month ago I was exactly where you are right now, and I was about to buy an RSX (S) for myself, and then I realized that I had to get a good deal on insurance before I go out and buy it, so I looked around for the best prices for insurance, because I'm 19, and I have 1 wreck on my record from 11/01, and my insurance was still outrageous, like 2500 per 6 months!!!! I didn't want to and couldn't pay that and a car note and have money in my pockets at the same time. So, I had to change my look on things, so then I realized that I could get a car that wouldn't drain all of my income and still have space to breathe, so I got a used car, paid in full, so my insurance wouldn't be that much so I wouldn't have to pay fo the HUGE cost of buying a NEW SPORTS CAR, my car is listed as an economy car, but I can live with it for now. And when you turn 21, your ins. premium would drop dramatically because you're out of that "High Risk Age" of a young teenage dude with a fast car. All I 'm saying is don't break yourself, because I know how much you want this awesome car, if you have the money for it, do it, but if you think you're going to strech yourself, you may want to rethink your options. And during this process of having this smaller car, I can think of getting something better and save up for a much better car, so I hope you understand what I"m saying, take it how you want to.

Do your research and shop around. I just bought a new S, first car I've financed, and first time I've bought new. I emailed all the dealers in the area(about 8) and looked for the best deal. Then I took the best offer and asked if anyone could beat it. Two said they could deal and I wound up going back and forth with them. I never imagined it would work quite that well, but it does if you play it right. You've got to be bargaining for an out the door price, ie. price+tax+tags+title+dealer fees. Other wise they'll get you on the dealer fees. I wound up paying just hundreds over invoice, plus more for my trade in than any other place, plus an ok finance offer. The best part is I did the whole thing over email with a few phone calls since I had already test driven several S's. PM me if you want some details.
