Default Tips on Sources for an Essay.

Ok so it has been a long time since I have actually sat down and did an essay. Well I am taking Philosophy and I need to write an essay on the Morality of Pornography and my point of view. I need 5 types of data to help me defend my opinion on pornography. Well I am a bit scatter brained at the moment with the exams I just got done doing since I have not been in school in forever and need some tips on where to find legit data to cite for my essay. I google what I want and come up with bullshit half the time and some is probably not legit. Any and all help is appreciated.

Your school should have database resources that you can use. The school's library website will likely have links to them directly. You pay for school...and your school pays hundred's of thousands of dollars for these databases, so you should definitely use them.

Just to get you started....a really good one for "basic" essays where you're not going into too much detail is "opposing viewpoints" find out if you can access that through your school. If you can, you'll likely find five sources just there...and it will practically write your essay for you.

Thanks I am going to look into that website. I just went through a lot of the FAQ's on my school website and found the info to get onto EBSCOhost. So hopefully this will help.

Just out of curiosity; what school do you go to? I actually work for the library at Cal State Fullerton...so, if you go here, I can help you find tons of resources.

If not...I'm sure you won't have too much trouble locating sources through your school.

wikipedia.

Have you tried searching in Google Scholar? And I agree with In The Year, use your schools library, they should have a wide variety of databases.

Log on to your schools library like the above poster said.

Off the top of my head, I think it's "ebscohost" is like one of the best. it'll search magazines, news paper, books, online articles (legit ones)

Google scholar, Jstore, EBSCOhost or any other similar archives which your school (if it is half decent) should have paid subscriptions for. If this is an important assignment (I had to write a 4000 word thesis for my final year at school) then using real world books from university libraries always makes a good impression.

EBSCOhost is great, library is WAY underrated. Set aside a few hours one day to hit the library and use their computer catalog, ask questions, and walk around.
