Tool
I remember Tool came to the U of C campus a long time when the Undertow was just released. We all piled into the little Ballroom, and they turned the lights out so you couldn't see a damn thing. Then this one lone red 100 watt bulb was turned on behind the drummer. They played their entire set this way. You couldn't see anything. At the end, the red light went out, there was some confusion, they turned the house lights on, and the band had vanished! The last show they were here, they played in our NHL arena, the Saddledome. Somehow not the same as that old show back in school...

This is a damn good thread!! Seen 'em live 3 times, and don't think I was in a normal state of consciousness any of them.
Metal rules! Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise. APC is on my platter for their next US tour. Just try and stop me! The live shows are unlike any other experience on this planet!

TOOL UPDATE
Work is underway on Tool's next album, despite the fact that A Perfect Circle will be touring for the next little while. The writing process for this album will be similar to the process for "Lateralus": the band works on music, sends demos to Maynard, he works on vocals, and so on. The singer discusses this in the newest issue of Kerrang magazine, saying "we're working on a new Tool record now. I'm multi-tasking. I can't walk and chew gum but I can change hats." It was four and a half years between "

I've heard it's either about hash brownies or hash cookies. Alex Grey did the art for Lateralus
