interesting read on some of the most top secret bases and bunkers in the world (that we know about). the video on iron mountain is so interesting since i see those iron mountain boxes all the time...

I don't know if the company is associated with the location mentioned in the article, but the company Iron Mountain does off-site records storage and document destruction for companies. We've used them various times to store backup tapes offsite, shred documents and such.

There is a large Iron Mountain facility about 5 minutes from me here at work.. and no, it's not built into a mountain.

Interesting stuff.

A large number of companies hold data centers in similar locations, either within a city or out in the country side. Once you get through the man traps and other security devices, you end up going deep underground to servers rooms that hold billions of dollars worth of data.

I've been to several, including one maintained by the Swiss govt for tax purposes, and the one I work in right now used by a 'bank'.
