Default Toyota teabagged me. Rant.

So I took the wifes truck into Toyota today for some "WARRANTY" work. They said the work could take up to a week so I asked if they had lohner cars for such situations. The service guy said, "we do have loaner cars but you have to reserve them 30 days in advance." Seriousley, how often do I know, 30 days in advance, when my steering rack is going to take an oily leak all over the place? I am going to wait for the service dept to call with the results of the autopsy before I procede with further negotiations. It really is no big deal, I was just shocked, I never heard of such rules and have always been given a loaner for warranty work from other dealerships.
*End rant*

SheDrivesIt,

He dropped his truck off for warranty work and the dealer did not supply a loaner vehicle b/c their "policy" is the customer has to have one reserved 30 days prior, which the op is stating is retarded.

If their policy states it, they'd have to rent a vehicle for you. If they have no policy for this, you can take the shuttle.

I looked for a policy but could not find one, it probably just depends on the dealership. I am sure if I asked someone at the dealer they could supply me with such documentation...

Does Toyota reuire a loaner with the warranty?

I know SUbaru had it in the 3/36 period for all warranty work when I bought my car. If they are out of loaners I get an Enterprise turd for a day or two. Last time it was a minivan. Blech.

This is probably part of the dealer agreement with the manufacturer but causes some level of expense for the dealer. Since the dealer is probably in very lean times they decide to cheat the customer out of a benefit to save money.
