In my state you have to plead guilty on your citation to go to traffic school, and attend said school before your court date.
Once you appear in court, traffic school is off the table. I would check to see if this is true there as well.

Man I feel miserable. Thanks for all the advice. I'll write something up when I get back from court.

The Judge's job is to find you guilty. Demand a jury trial. It is your right to a trial by jury in every state.

I have served on 2 traffic jury trials and watched 2 more cases. ALL WERE FOUND NOT GUILTY. The jurors seem to feel this is a way to get back at the over zealouos cops.

The second trial I served on I went into it with the mindset I was going to let the guy off, but after hearing his very pathetic defense I thought he was guilty but when I got into the jury room more than half the other people didn't care. They just told stories about the cops hiding in bushes or working traffic instead of working real crimes and they were determined to "send a message" so I went along and he was found not guilty.

If you ask for a jury trial the cops always offer a nice settlement just before the trial but after seing several in action I'd just go to trial.

All your going in for is a wrong lane use ticket? Thats mild, you will more than likely get a plea for traffic school and maybe a small fine. Ideally the traffic school should null out any points. I would'nt sweat it usually the plea bargains are good enough that you dont need to worry about going to trial.

So the woman in the Prelude did not get a ticket? How's that? Was she in the turn lane to turn left, or to merge with traffic?

HAH! I DIDN'T GET A TICKET! Judge called up my name and asked me if I was guilty or not guilty. I said not guilty and then he gave me my license back. I'm free at last. Thanks guys for giving me the confidence to say "NOT GUILTY"!
