Traveling From Springfield,MO to Torrance,CA
I going to Homecoming II next week and I am looking for places to crash along the way.
I was previously going to be toting my girlfriend along with me, but she told me this morning that it's looking like she won't be able to go with me. We were planning on driving straight through, but now that has changed since she can't come. I haven't budgeted enough money to stay in a bunch of hotels along the way, so I am reaching out to see if anyone would be willing to let me crash on their couch along the route there and back. I am going to be coming through Oklahoma City and heading down I-40 to California. I may take the same route back, but then again I may go north if there is anyone along the way back in that direction I could stay with.
So...who has a comfy couch?

In 1978 my sister and I drove from Villa Park, CA to Cincinnati, OH for my mom's family reunion; I had a '77 Porsche 911S. I drove the whole way there - three days - but coming home I was starting to feel sick so, against my better judgment, I let my sister drive part of the way. I remember Springfield, MO quite distinctly: she drove through it, then a few miles further on the highway ran out of gas. I had to walk about a mile to the next off-ramp to get a gallon of gas. (Actually, someone pulled over on the way and gave me a ride to the off-ramp. But I still had to walk a mile back, with a gas can, opposing traffic, with all the semis flying past at 80 mph.)

A bunch of extra hotel stays aren't in it. Thanks, though!

The Porsche must have been a blast to drive! (As long as there was gas in it)
"Yes, it's a Porsche." (Two syllables.)
"I kinda thought it was. My brother had an old Mercury flathead and raced a Porsh once. Kept up with it till about 90."
