Sounds to me like she was spending alot of money to find this "treasure." Granted, I don't know what the value of those gold coins would be today, but I can imagine that renting a backhoe, esp one capable of digging 12 feet deep, and ground penetrating radar can't be all that cheap. I wonder how much she would have actually profited, if at all, especially after splitting the findings.

Though, I think if I broke even, it would be worth it for the adventure.
she might as well have played lottery scratchers, she has a better chance of getting a winning ticket than finding treasure. although she probably woulda lost more money than she woulda won... but then that seems to be the story here, she used a lot of money to try to find a non-existing treasure lol

I love how anytime some freaking idiot from Illinois does something stupid, its listed as being a "Saint Louis story" .... They are a different breed over their on the IL side and I would prefer not to be grouped in with them
Yea, thats pretty ludicrous considering Springfield is a good 100 miles from St. Louis. And it's not like nobody has ever heard of Springfield, considering its our freaking capital.

Oh, and don't worry. We all feel the same way about you guys over here...

I think that'd be worth $250 to leave something in the future for people to find as a legacy. He was a coin collector and if he was getting older and wanted to do something fun with some of his coins, I could see it.

I would much rather spend $250 on blow, and write a note to mislead some jackass trying to get rich off my hard work.
