Default TREO 650 w/ sprint?

it's time to get rid of SE T810 and $hitty Tmobile, I get almost no reception where i work. though tmobile definitely has the cheapest plans..

CompUSA has the Treo650 phone for $99.99 with new sprint activation w/ 2 yr contract. Is it worth it or is the phone just too bulky & heavy??????

I think it's gonna depend entirely on what you're used to. I don't care for the Treo because I like basic, compact phones, the lighter and smaller, the better. But I bought the Treo 650 for my gf and she loves it, doesn't mind the relatively large size even when it's inside a case (insert sick joke here).

That's a good deal, though, assuming Sprint has good coverage in your area.

Can't you just buy a small phone and swtich out that card from the treo 650 into you small phone when you need a small phone?

I don't think you can do that with Sprint phones. They're on a CDMA network and the phones don't come with SIM cards (like Verizon or Cingular phones on the GSM network).

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

He's right, no sim card swap for the Sprint phones. I have the Sprint Treo 650 and it's perfect for me. I travel on goverment matters from 100,000 up to 200,000 miles a year. I used to carry a palm and a cell phone, but the the palm was damaged while working on a sub in Guam, and the cell got lost in one of a dozen hotels. The Treo was the perfect replacement. Check out the blog at "blog.treonauts.com" and sites like that to see what the Treo can do. I use mine for email and text messaging while on travel, poker games on the airplane, tracking about a dozen different schedules, keeping track of a few hundred phone numbers, etc.

i have the treo650 on sprint's network and I'm very happy.

99.99 is a hell of a deal. let's just say that's way less than I paid.

the 650 has a lot of potential. It plays Divx videos very nicely. A 512MB card is more than enough to store 3.5-4 hours of video. You can rip a DVD and use pocket Divx encoder and have the movie on your phone! The best player is mmplayer and it is like $20 and it plays mp3s, too.

My phone has been trouble-free. I have a bluetooth headset and there are no issues there, either. The 650 now works with Sprint's mobiTV service if that's your thing. Palm has embraced java (finally) and that is opening up a world of possibilities for the treo.

Oh, and the battery? For a phone, it is huge (1800 mAh). With moderate use, don't be suprised if you go 5 days to a week between charges.

I hate Microsoft.

The next Treo is going to have Windows Mobile (the stripped one, not PocketPC Phone Edition), although I think a parallel model will still have PalmOS
