I think that the problem is that the cars have no damage.
I know I've only played it once but one question thought,
can you modify the cars?? (ex.:exhaust for a better sounding car)

suspensions
brakes
intakes/exhausts
chips
port polish
displacement increase
turbos
intercoolers
clutches
LSDs
transmissions
flywheels
lightening
modifying your car just enough to beat the next race is half (well maybe 1/4) the fun.

I hate the fact, you cannot play with the lights, horns or other characteristics of the cars unlike NFS ... And isn't the extended wing on the Porsches suppose to rise up when driven at high speeds? Now, that's simply not good enough.

How many of you have a Steering Wheel for PS2???
My friend have the Logitech Wingman Force Feedback, I think it's the only way
you can play (with the steering wheel) to have fun.

GT3 was developed by a Japanese software developer, so naturally it favors cars from the Japanese market. The many Japanese subcompacts in the game are popular among a certain group of enthusiasts in Japan, and they're a tradition in the Gran Turismo games, so they felt they had to include them. According to an interview I read, the developers hoped to include many more cars (GT3 actually contains significantly fewer cars than GT2), but they were simply faced with time constraints. The game had to be released on schedule and they didn't have the manhours available to include everything they wanted.
One of my frustrations with GT3 is that a stock vehicle can never really be modded to become competitive with the race cars. Maybe it's unrealistic to try this, but I've found that the only thing standing in my way is the brakes. You can never buy brakes good enough to make a stock automobile manageable at high horsepower. The best brakes you can buy are the "Sports" brakes which are not nearly good enough.
The next game scheduled in the GT series will be GT Concept. It's going to be a scaled down version of GT3, providing only a Arcade mode, and featuring 20 concept cars from Japanese manufacturers. Supposedly it will be cheaper than a normal PS2 game. Here's a link and some photos:
