Default TRUE HACKERS! I need your help!

Short version of question : I need to change the MAC address of my Linksys Cable modem, model BEFCMU10 v2.0.

Long version of question : I have a Linksys Gigabit Switch, Linksys Wireless G Broadband Router, and a Linksys Cable modem. All Linksys products are neatly stackable, but I am stuck using the RCA cable modem that the cable company gave me, not the Linksys one that I purchased, because the cable company is communicating to the MAC address of the RCA modem, not my Linksys modem. So my setup is going to look like crap unless I can use my Linksys modem instead.
So, I am not trying to do anything "illegal" persay, such as uncapping the modem or anything like that, I'm just trying to use the Linksys instead of the RCA cable modem. Linksys says I should simply be able to contact my cable company to give them the new MAC Address, but my particular cable company, Time Warner, doesn't support any cable modems that they did not provide, so they refuse to change the MAC address assigned to my account.
Does anyone know of a hack to do this?

There isn't a way to do this because the mac is a permanent number.

On my Linksys broadband router (differe from you modem, but at least made by the same people), I simply go to that admin page for it and goto the Setup Menu, and select the MAC Address Clone page. From there, I can change the MAC address to anything I want.

No idea if this would apply to their cable modem, though.

if you know the MAC address of the cable modem, you can have your Linksys unit masquerade as that MAC, as long as the unit has that option.

Can you just place your RCA cable modem out of the way since it's not aesthetically pleasing to look at as the Linksys stack?

That's what I've been doing... It's not that big a deal, since the components are out of plain view, but I would also like to test if the Linksys Cable Modem performs more consistently than the RCA. I have to reset the RCA about once a week or so, as it seems to lose its internet access for some reason. I paid for the equipment (used off ebay, non-refundable). I don't see why I shouldn't be allowed to use it.
I've been reading up on some cablemodem hacks that people use to uncap the bandwidth limit on their modems, and changing the MAC address seems to be an additional functionality that is available as well. The information on the web for these hacks is MUCH less organized than cable descrambles, modchips, dish cards, etc.

People hacking and uncaping the modem is probably a reason why the ISP decided NOT to allow other brands of modems on thier network.
It does suck but I guess its in the service contract. I use Cox.net and they have never had a problem switching out modem. I bring different beta modem home for testing and Cox has always changed that ish on the fly.

Is there another ISP in your area you could switch to?

you should have bought a linksys modem that allowed MAC cloning. The model you have apparently doesn't allow it, but they make some that do. Replace your with one that does, and you're golden.
