This is TRULY EVIL!
I read this in the local paper and it quoted a cop as stating that she (Chante) checked on the man several times and apologized but did nothing to help!
What an agonizing death that man must have experienced!

I got so pissed when I heard on the news last week when it first happened that her lawyer said they were going to prove it was just a simple case of 'failure to stop and render aid.' Give me a break! That's BULLSH*T!
Keeping the man locked in your garage (w/ door closed) for 2 days and removing any chance for him to get help (or survive) as well as trying to get rid of the evidence is a little more than failure to stop and render aid. So what if she panicked and didn't know what to do. She shouldn't have been drunk and whacked out on ecstacy to begin with (and she's a nurse's aid!
)!!!
The bottom line is she new she was going to get in trouble if she reported it cuz she was drunk and high at the time of the accident. She was also just too stupid to realize that she's only making it harder on herself by trying to cover it up.
She took a man's life because she was trying to save her own. She is just another person who refused to accept reponsibility for her actions. For those two things she is guilty. She deserves to have the book thrown at her. Any jury will see that.
(Why do these things always happen in Texas?!?

Donno, homeless people aren't thought of as human by many in this society. Eventually, that's how the statistically average people treat them. Society reflects what's taught, right? I figure, she hits a homeless guy, and then has to weigh the value of his life (probably not much) against her life (infinite value in her mind). Most people would do the same. She just got caught and has to be punished; to show that the homeless people might not be human, but they're not classified as animals; yet (that'll take about 30 more years).
