TV experts, please chime in quickly!
I'd go DLP before I went LCD or plasma, too. LCD sets have dodgy color and so-so blacks and if you're s stickler for accuracy they don't cut it.
While there isn't much 1080p content, there IS a lot of 1080i content. This content will show at double the detail on a 1080p set. While 1080p content is hype IMO 1080i content is not. 1080i and 1080p content will look the same anyway.
Of course, with 42" the difference between 720 and 1080 isn't much at all.
IMO, the best display tech out there is LCoS aka SXRD aka HD-ILA

Thanks, guys!
This is too good of a deal to pass up. I can get a brand new one for as low as $550 (700 - 150 if purchased on a charge card), while the cheapest price on the net is from Amazon at $1100, other prices are higher, up to $2000. So I think $550 is a steal. I will give it a try to see how much I like it, if unsatisfied, I can always return it.
Two drawbacks are: 1) the lamp needs to be replaced once in a while; 2) it's not a full 1080p, so when I'll have a Bluray, it won't be as clear as it could be, meaning it won't provide 1080p. With Bluray connected, the max it'll provide is 720p on this TV, correct?

At 42", you won't need 1080p unless you sit very close. Your eyes will need to be 5.25 - 5.5ft from the screen to be able to tell a difference. Even when using a 1080p source such as blueray, you will still need to sit that close to resolve a difference.
At $550, this is a good deal.

Thanks for all the replies! Now, who wants a cookie?

Finally bought the TV. GREAT price! However, I'm not completely satisfied because of the future lamp/bulb replacements.

I wouldn't get it unless u need tv right now. Electronics r getting cheaper n better everyday n yes u will find bunch of deals after thanksgiving. U might not need 1080p right now but in couple of years u might need it.
I think I'll just return it because I don't like the bulb replacements, not good in the long run. And a 5-yr warranty would cost almost as much as the TV itself.
Other than that, GREAT TV at a GREAT price!!!
Thanks for all your responses! Very helpful you are!
