KENT -- A 54-year-old Maple Valley man with a machete slashed the face and neck of his real estate broker Saturday afternoon, killing the 52-year-old Federal Way man in a Pacific Highway parking lot, police said.
The victim recently sold property to the suspect, but police were uncertain whether the real estate transaction led to the attack.
``They had a dispute of some sort,'' said Kent police spokesman Paul Petersen. ``It's not clear what it was about.''
Witnesses told police the suspect drank from a bottle of Roundup weed killer immediately after the attack.
Police found the 16-ounce bottle of weed killer at the scene. The suspect was transported to Auburn Regional Medical Center and was expected to recover.
Kent police are stationed at the hospital and will return the suspect to the Kent Jail when doctors release him.
Investigators expect the suspect will be charged with murder. The identities of the suspect and victim were not available Saturday night.
The attack occurred just before 1 p.m. in the parking lot of Omni Executive Center at 23830 Pacific Highway S., where the victim worked as a real estate broker.
The suspect, driving a Lexus SUV, rammed into the victim's Lexus in the parking lot. The collision caused the suspect's vehicle to roll onto its side.
Both men got out of their vehicles, and the suspect attacked the victim with the machete. The suspect ``severely cut and chopped'' the man with the machete, Petersen said.
The suspect was covered in the victim's blood when police arrived.
``He had blood all over him. He looked atrocious. He was crazy,'' said a witness who asked not to be named.
Young children were among the witnesses.
Medics treated the victim at the scene and on the way to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he died about 1:50 p.m.
Kent police were continuing their investigation.
I just heard this on our local news and spent about 30 minutes looking for news on it. Finally, with the Kent Chamber of Commerce site, I tracked a newspaper site and found this article. I was hoping for pics. The two Lexus' were a SC430 and LX470.
Unreal.

There are a couple of members here from Kent, but I don't know if they know anything aobut what happened.

I saw the video on CNN. Pretty messed up. That roll over was off the hook. I used to sell real estate in Kent, but these guys were a different broker. Glad I'm in computers now... In addition, Vodka is much better than RoundUp.
