Actually, later researchers dismissed Plummer's claim and called him a pathetic liar. Why would anyone want to claim responsibility for a bad cause? Anyways, the bombs were dropped by the South Vietnamese Army because they thought there were commies on the ground.

It's a shame that after all said and done, the commies prevailed. The South Vietnamese were defeated and Americans went home with their tails between their legs. All the bloodsheds and efforts!
