Thumbs down Update-Anyone hear of scams/frauds using Travelex?

The lady friend is selling an item in CZ and some dude over in the UK is interested in purchasing. He tells her that he will send the money to a company called Travelex and they will serve as an escrow until they receive her item. She got an automatically generated email from Travelex instructing her what to do. This is part of the email and the names have been blotted out, other than that, the content is the original. Notice the spelling and grammatical errors. Is this a known scam? WW S2ki Do? TIA.

This smells like a version of the popular money wiring/fraud scam. Methinks its suspect.

don't bother. It is the buyer's responsibility to pay in tender the seller prefers. It is NEVER the seller's responsibility to find a way to accept payment. Might as well have the buyer send you "scrip." lol

Travelex is apparently a common name for international money exchange/bill paying, but that doesn't mean everything using the word "Travelex" is legit.

Thanks dudes.

Ok, so I called the UK number from the official website and they told me it was not a valid TMT number. Hmmm, what to do? Have her send the guy nasty shit?

Naaaw, thesee guys coouuld be dangerous. If you send him a box of sh!t, they'd probably have their friends in America pay you a visit. Maybe I just watched too many movies.

Anyhow, I've had a lot of emails like this when I was looking at hot car deals on craigslist. I decided to buy new instead after the many retarded letters I got. There were those that said he'd pay for my ticket to Florida to pick up the car. I had a krazy message from ebay when I was selling some stuff. This thing was worth like $200. This guy messages me and says he will pay $5000 if I ship it immediately to Africa somewhere. He told me to trust him as he is wealthy and he needs to get his son a bday gift asap. Boy, did I not fall for that.
