In Japan you are often allowed to bring in your own food and drink. McDonalds, Bento box, whatever.

I have a few friends in cities that just don't go to the movies any more because of the cost - it is something like $40 for two tickets and concessions, not to mention cab fare or parking.

They just buy DVDs on Amazon for $15-$20 - its a good idea if you can bypass the big screen, lines of people, talking and cell phones in the theater... wait a minute....
