And no recourse. They sell the house for full profit, and then option the mortgage to a bank dumb enough to purchase the paper. Cha Ching !

^ did the builder actually broker the loan or was it a mortgage broker / bank that did it...? Of course any borrower with any brains can figure out that they cannot possibly afford a $425k house making $50k a year....

lots of people to blame....

Builder brokered the loan.

The lumber yard guy was nice but not very sophisticated from a financial standpoint. The house that just emptied had recent Hmong immigrants who barely spoke english. I see another house across the street loading a trailer with stuff as we speak..........

The $425k house has been for sale for $325k for a month now with no takers. If they will take $200k for it I will buy and hold.......... Its two freaking years old and if you finished the basement its near 5000 sqft with a three car garage on a wooded lot 15 minutes from downtown.

another house is even older..it is 5 miles from here.. it is close to 20 years old and never had anyone living in it... it still has the stickers on the windows.... doh!!!

think of the rent $ they missed out on... 10 years @ $1000 a month (which is low for how nice either house is) = $120,000 cash money... ahaha..
Maybe b/c no one would want to live in a neighborhood with some guy who is a stalker.

What the hell is wrong with these builders? It was a LARGE national builder that had homes in lower price ranges they could have tried to sell these people but instead they put them into big houses with big morts they could not afford and now I have two empty houses with crap lawns on either side.
Might want to read a bit more on housing the last 5 years before blaming the builder single handedly. The builder may have brokered the loan, but it was sold off to other culprits before the ink dried.

Or because they don't like the 2 seasons in MN. Winter and mosquito. I have a business meeting in Bloomington this Fri & Saturday. I will bring the bug spray.
