How can I tell the differnce between the two? Is anything with seeds a fruit?

Simple answer? I'm 99% sure you're right. But I think there are a few odd ball exceptions.

I heard a tomato is a fruit because it had seeds, we were arguing. Is a eggplant, bellpepper fruits too?

I think fruits come from a plant, whereas a vegetable is usually the entire plant...just a guess. And yes, a tomato is a fruit.
