Spend a little time reading about it and it will make sense. You hook it up to your cable at home. I have mine hooked up to my tivo. Then you hook it up to your internet connection at home. You can then connect to it from anywhere you have an internet connection with sufficient bandwidth. Unless it's blocked on the firewall at work, then you should be able to watch it from work. I also have the mobile client on my PDA phone that allows me to watch it on my phone. It's pretty easy to set up and mine has worked flawlessly in the two years I have had it.

so as long as I hook it up to my cable at home and connect it to internet, I get to watch anything on cable using my laptop
