Humanatek was right, after owning an S2K, everything else we drive is not the same. A new Vette (nice straight line acceleration, BAD seats, and I didn't quite like the weighty feel in corners), a new IS300 (very nice setup, good engine, but the auto tranny is horrible), a new TL (VERY nice for the price, but a FWD and not all that comfy, drove like a heavier Accord...), a new Mercedes E320 (1000% better than the S2K in terms of sheer "phat"ness and plushness, 1000% less fun to drive - I almost dozed off to sleep behind the wheel).

Tell me about it. I drove a coworkers Wolfsburg Edition Jetta (1.8T). While it was nice, the steering had no feel, the clutch was spongy, and the shifter elastic, with no feel. Actually, it's probably bette rthan alot, but in comparison....

But it did have a surprisingly nice amount of torque.

My S is in for repairs, so I rented a Hyundai Grandeur at the insurance companies expense. Now before you all scoff, I rented it because it has the VDO Dayton SatNav in it and I wanted to check it out.

It's a totally different car to the S in just about every way, and that's fine. But it's amzing when you turn the wheel the Grandeur kind of keels over for a while, then eventually decides to turn. Very different to the S.

It's actually a pretty good car for me, as I can sit in traffic without getting frustrated, and when driing I actually find myself going under the speed limit (a new experience let me tell you).

I AM SO LOOKING FORWARD TO GETTING MY CAR BACK!!

 

Why did you think the S2000 got voted the most fun car to drive by Consumer Report?

 

I love to borrow my mother in law's civic to take the kids to soccer, etc., then get back in the S!!! Man I love to drive my car.

 

The S2000 is so much fun I traded my '97 M3 for it. NOT even thinking about buying the new M3

 

I kind of had a reverse thing happen for me. I took my S out for the first time in 4 months and I forgot just how good it was! After driving my Accord V6, I almost believed the the S2K was just "sportier" car. There must be something wrong with my brain because when I got in and took off down the street, I was smilling for hours afterwards.

 

I remember just few years ago, when I was reading "CAR" magazine. One of the reader states that his Lotus Elise makes his BMW M3 feels like a truck.

I don't have a Lotus Elise nor a BMW M3. But, my S2000 makes my track BMW 325is feels like a truck. I can feel the weight when I was in BMW. and, the S2000 is just so nimble and fun to drive.

The Type R was supposed to be a no holes barred sports car, although FWD of course.

When i owned my lude and get to occasionally drive my friends R it felt so. The word is. TIGHT and responsive.

Now when i drive it it feels soft. The car feels big, the braking is not as smooth, the accellerator is "unsmooth" the clutch is soft and non-linear, the shifter, forget about it ...

The point is if the best FWD in the world feels like this, the stook must be one hell of a car.

AHHHHHHHHHHHH the feeling, can't wait for warm weather again.

Kind of makes me laugh when i read on ITR, prelure GSR... boards that they would never trade for a stook even if it cost the same. SURE.
