Violent by nature? A little, some more then others. Put humans in a crowd, toss in some alchohol/drugs and maybe some unstable individuals to begin with multiplied by a zero tolerance policy (which is retarded) and you get what you get.

Well, we descend from primates, so I'd say we all have a violent streak in us. It's just one of those things.
