It is a sad day when we lose explorers pursuing their dreams. My thoughts and hopes go to all the survivers of those involved.

It's hard to believe it has been almost 17 years to the day that Challenger blew up. My prayers are with everyone.
On a side note, I was just watching CBS news when a Howard Stern disciple phoned in to tell of some debris that had fallen in his back yard. Then this idiot said it was one of Baba Louie's (or whatever) false teeth. I cannot believe the insensitivity of those Howard Stern followers to do such a low thing less than two hours after this tragedy happened. Guys like that should be censored from the airwaves. It makes me so .

Yea, this is a real tragedy guys. It couldn't have happened at a worse time or to such a famous crew, at least the way things are going today. We needed a shuttle replacement program nearing completion 5yrs ago, but the way things look now we may not get one for 10-20yrs If i recall, venture star and the x-33 were cancelled..., maybe NASA will think twice.... Something like this may and prolly will cancel all launches for what could be years to come. Hopefully though this will be the last time a shuttle suffers such a fate. Like all have said before, my prayers go out to all who were involved.

Well, they can't cancel all Shuttle flights, there are still people in the ISS that have to come down soon...

moved to OT.

and HA! cancel all flights are you kidding me? This is a tragedy, but I can't believe someone should think we should all just give up.

"If at first you don't succeed, give up"?? That's one way to fail.

The astronauts all knew the dangers of their jobs and accepted them willingly.

My condolences go out to the families of the astronauts.

Just awful. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the deceased.
Among the crew was Israel's first astronaut...my first thought was sabotage...post-September 11th paranoia on my part, I hope.

Maybe. They say the shuttle entered the atmosphere at 6 times the safe speed. That sort of heat and friction would tear it apart.

I'd say sabotage is highly unlikely. tho not impossible
