Visual estimation (needs certification, though).
Supposably they go through some course that teaches them how to read how fast cars are going just by looking.. And yes it does hold up in court, I know for fact unfortunatly..

I hate that one, cops here dont even have to use a radar, they can just say you are speeding..

Radar Jammers are a waste of money.

Aircraft. Visual Observation (no freakin' cert needed). Handheld laser. (Tripod Laser)
Yeah the total BS method. Just making it up out of thin air. It is most frequently used in the town I grew up in to harrass teens.
"You were going fifty jillion miles an hour because I said you were and no, you can not see the radar gun, I cleared the reading."
I was never busted this way, but pulled over leaving a high school football game and the cop wanted to search my car for booze. When he did not find any, he gave me a ticket for running a stop sign about a quarter mile away in an intersection I did not travel through.
I am sure this method is used in other places besides friendly Fridley Minnesota and by other officers not named Larry Johnson.

They do not have to show you the reading. They do not have to show you the calibration equipment or documents (until trial/hearing). And, if you ask they will mark you for speeding death and doc the hell out it.
You are far better off going to court.

I know, I got a ticket from a cop using vascar. The best I have been able to come up with from an internet search is to pay the ticket and try to convince the county prosecutor to drop the points and not take it to court.

yup... back in College Station, Texas, there were probably as many motorcycle cops as there were patrol cars. None of the motorcycle cops even have radars, they just go by a visual and can give you a ticket for going a specific speed...
