Default What digital camera?

Trying to decide between the Canon SLR Digital and the Sony F828. I would like to hear from people who have used them, give me some pros and cons of both. Thanks

I have an F828 that I have had for a couple of months now.

I am *very* happy with it. It feels like a quality camera and the lens is excellent.

Only thing I don't like about it is the fact that it doesn't use a microprism in the viewfinder

I almost bought a Canon ....... but I know that I would have ended up spending a small fortune on lenses.

From you list, I'd go with the cannon simply because I'd prefer the SLR.

I'm still waiting for olympus to come out with an SLR that's compatible with the OM lenses since I have a stack of them in my closet. I never shoot on film anymore though since I got a decent digital three years ago.

If your serious about photography, please choose the 300D or 10D, I have tons of image samples from a 10D and the 1DS if your interested.
Just stay far away from the Sony F828!
The viewfinder is hard to work with and noise is still noticable at 100iso

When it comes to color and low noise, Canon is the way to go.

Here is a link to my landscape gallery, all photos have been taken with a Canon 10D or a 1DS My landscape gallery

I picked the SLR, just because of the ability to interchange lenses. I have to wait until I have enough cash for the new Pentax Digital SLR body.....$1400. That's one of the only real down sides to an SLR body, but even with film a pro grade body is going to start in the same price range.

I do not have much experience with the Pentax *ist D SLR. Im sure its a great cam and it shares the same sensor as the Nikon D100 which I do have some experience with. The noise is low but not as low as the Canon sensors, the only problem I see with the *ist is the choice of lenses are very limited, I dont think third party lenses such as Sigma and Tamron will be making lenses for the *ist. But if you already have a nice collection of Pentax lenses from your 35mm then the *ist might be the way to go.
But if you do choose the Canon, you have a HUGE selection of lenses to choose from, even if you are on a budget
