What do I do now?
op...what was your plan when you started ur masters? looks like a case of ready fire aim.
anywayz... i graduated college with a 2.71... knew nobody was gonna hire me junior year of college. so that summer i enrolled myself in an accounting program at UC santa barbara... banged out 24 units of accounting...took more summer school to bolster my gpa (community college is incredibly easy and they offer online classes which are a joke) averaging in those grades improved my chances of getting a job big time. at interviews, i would just leave my gpa off the resume and tell people my "accounting gpa" which was a full point higher.
also since you are doing ur masters, u need to befriend your profs and ask them wut options u have. they fountains of real world/industry specific knowledge, as well as technical knowledge. they can point u in the right direction.
u can always work for DNA or genentech. my friend that majored in bio now injects stuff in mice and swabs peitri dishes for lots of money at genentech.

Not a fan of optometry; I'll end up hating my job with that one. I know Frito Lay here in plano, tx may be hiring for lab work. Basically sampling the main batches for QA, ensuring low metal concentrations in the grease, etc. With a master's they pay around $65K/yr, as I am told by one of their former employees. I'm looking into toxicology work as well, but I'm not sure what good paying jobs lie within there.
The job is quite fun actually, as long as you make it challenging. Seeing and dealing with a variety of patients. You can even have surgical privileges in some states (which is the best part of the job).
First and foremost, if this is what you want to do, then don't give up. Keep working at it, and I'm sure you will eventually make it in.
Second, have you ever checked out studentdoctor.net? There is a wealth of information on that board, and many of the members are very helpful. You will find that a good amount of people on the board are in the same situation as you(and most likely me too, except for med school
haha). How many schools have you applied to? I would think with those stats you should at least get into one school(although it will probably be in the middle of nowhere). But hey, beggars can't be choosers, right?
Third, I don't know if this works for pharmacy schools, but have you looked into the Caribbeans? I know that for med. school, there are three "good" schools in the Caribbeans(AUC, Ross, St. George), and you end up getting the same level of education, if not better, as in the states. The only difficulty is getting a residency position, but if you do well, you shouldn't have any problems. But of course, this is med. school...so maybe you might want to look into it to see if they have a similar program for the pharm. D.
Best of luck, and stick with it. You'll eventually get in
BTW, ToeKnee, I believe optometry school is a bit harder to get into. Not to mention, you need extracurricular activities aimed at the optometry field, and not just OAT's/GPA, which I'm assuming the OP has none of. I believe the order of difficulty is something along the lines of Pharm<Opt/Dent<Med, not that Pharm is much easier to get into; the difference in difficulty in getting accepted between them all is pretty minuscule.
