Default What does everyone think of the 350Z?

Production JDM version will be debuting Oct 24 at the Tokyo Auto Show.

Here's whats known so far:

3.5l V6, 280hp, 6 speed, RWD. (HP pretty much locked down).

3000-3200lb

Price unknown.

The interesting part is that Nissan's very best handling engineers are working on the car. Considering that the new R34 Skyline GTR M-Spec can outhandle a Porsche Carrera 4 (according to EVO magazine), I'm expecting that the new Z will be a simply stunning handler - quite likely better than the S2000.

Nissan's goal is no less than to make this the best handling Nissan ever built.

I think it's going to be a cracker of a car.

I like Nissan(having raced them for over 10 years) and I am looking forward to seeing this car in person.
From pictures, I don't like the interior and the exterior I am undecided about.
But the drivetrain sounds rock'n.

It doesn't do much for me in the "looks" department but what do I know, I like the WRX.
Projected price of under $30K seems unrealistic, I think it will be priced higher than that. At least there will be another 2-seater for the buying public to choose from.

I don't particularly like the car's looks, but I think it'll be a hell of a performer and a bargain.

I do not like the looks of them at all.
I really like the 300ZX Twin Turbo and I've always been a big fan of the 240Z, but this design is just too funky for me. All the stats are PERFECT, though: RWD, normally aspirated 280BHP, 6 speed, 6 cylinder, a reasonable vehicle weight all for around $30K.
Bullseye!
The 2004 350Z Turbo should be interesting...

Well based on the stats mentioned here, it sounds like one awesome package. It remains to be seen however, how well it performs in real life. Whether it will outshine the S2000 is also another big question.

Let's wait and see - when is the US version supposed to be out on the market. I am sure one of the major auto mags will have a comprehensive test published a month or so before the car comes out.

Last I heard/read the US version is due to show up Q1 2002. The coupe and convertible should be available at the same time (initially the conv. was to follow the coupe by a few months).

Obviously, the paper spec's of the car are fantastic. Given Nissan's ability to produce truly great drivers cars, I have no doubt that this car will be a blast to drive. Having said that, I'm not yet completely sold on the car as a whole. The overall design just doesn't grab me the way that others (including our S does). There are some great details, though. I love the door handles and I lust for that beautiful rear chassis brace. Let's keep our fingers crossed that Nissan will keep those in the production car.

I hope it's 1Q02 that it shows up. I have heard July 2002, so we'll see.

As for the design details, the door handles are retained, but smaller, and the strut brace will see production. The interior is changed for the production version, and will quite possibly have Skyline GTR seats.

The show car will be finished in a champagne-silver version and have 17" wheels. It'll be interesting to see if this really the case.

Looking forward to it. I've put off putting a deposit down on an S2000 until after October 24 . . .
