I'd stick with what I'm doing now, just on a grander scale. Nicer house, nicer cars, give a fair bit more to charity, and take care of my family (and that of my wife).

I'd obviously travel more and have nicer hobbies but life wouldn't change that much. I couldn't imagine not working (everything I've seen of truly wealthy people indicates that you get bored eventually, regardless of how much money you have), so I'd still be doing that to a degree.

My pastor in Ft. Worth once said, "Jon, you don't have to worry about wealth changing you. You don't spend now and you won't spend then." It's true, too. While I would expand my life, I wouldn't go wild with it - not my nature.

Life isn't fun if all you do is have fun. There has to be some contrast and I'm pretty sure I'd be able to keep it that way. I'd probably buy my Dad a more expensive car than I'd buy myself (I'd get him a Carrera GT or McLaren F1), plus the nicest 944 Turbo S I could find to replace the one of his that I destroyed last year.

If I got $50M, I'd easily do what I said. If I got $5M, I'd not be able to do it all. I'd have to buy about fifteen houses and cars, and some of my family living in Phoenix and San Diego, so that wouldn't be too cheap. Couldn't do it very well on $5M with enough left over to make a difference in my own life.

So you're right - a moderate windfall ($5M) wouldn't be an extended family-changing event, really. We'd all benefit some, but not to the extent I previously described.

If I won the Powerball (without playing ), it wouldn't change much vs $50M. Like I said, it's just not my nature to blow money. I'd probably buy/form a company with $300M instead of blowing it on cars and houses and jets...

I don't really enjoy sitting at my desk all day discussing stupid shit with you bunch of assholes (), so I would definately quit this job and find something more rewarding...... I agree though that having no job would be boring as hell.... especially since there are probably very few people who would have time to do anything......

how about that idiot who won the 3XX million about 5 years ago.... he got a NET check of about $120M... his granddaughter is dead, he blew most of his $ in strip joints, etc.... i think all $120M is pretty much gone now......

$120M net? I assume that his lump sum option was more like $200M, not $300M, otherwise that's an ungodly amount of taxes.

Wow. I'd probably cry. Well, for a second, and then I'd start smiling again.

With enough money I could finally fund my racing career, the only thing I've wanted to do for as long as I can remember. Not that it's not happening, I'm just having to take the long, "I wasn't born in the lucky gene pool," way.
