I'm not even trying to throw anyone under the bus here... I'm just saying, 2-3 people who *occasionally* post in the back lot do something stupid, and the forum is shut down a few hours later...? So if 2 or 3 guys who post in the gallery go do something stupid are you going to shut down the gallery? When is Off Topic scheduled to be closed down? Did the politics forum get shut down because of ZX10 and GPMike's crazed antics and personal insults?

There is no specific list of things you can and cannot do. The TOS says you cannot:

a) upload, post, email, transmit or otherwise make available any Content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortuous, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libellous, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable;

It seems the big issue is crapping on threads, ie. harassing, outside of the backlot. The backlot forum has a rather bumpy start and isn't a favorite of any of the admins or moderators. Some of it comes down to the moderators filtering stuff out but it also requires that those who use the backlot do some self-policing.

The perception is that BL "bastards" are using the backlot forum to plan and organize activities which are disruptive or detrimental to the site as a whole. Threads such as the one discussed reinforce that perception.

 

and furthermore, are these two forums, and other hot spots like the home and garden forum, "appropriate [uses] of site resources"?

so why not get on the moderators who failed at their duties and didn't lock that thread up?

s2k_dude wants to be an attention whore, and shit on an old thread for no reasons. I remember reading the first few posts, and quickly losing interest. I didn't even click the link to the thread in which to shit on, so I have no idea what it was all about.

This is like 99% of Muslims are peaceful. One extremist comes along and blows up the world trade center and now everyone hates Muslims. Way to perpetuate the cycle dude.

 

This was brought up by HondaGal a month or 2 ago and AFAIK solved. Yes, there are 1 or 2 still in the BL that continued with the "bomb this thread" or "nice" comments, but AS A WHOLE we cleaned up our act (at least in regards to harassment outside of the BL). 1 or 2 bad apples does not justify shutting down an entire forum (IMO).
