Default What the hell is this?

I saw a commercial on TV that made no sense and it showed this URL.
Seems like some kind of "viral" internet thing but I'm confused, which I think was the intention of the site:

http://www.whathappenedinpiedmont.com

Can anyone explain?

ps - this situation (whether truth or fabrication) bares an uncanny similarity to a book written by Don DeLillo - White Noise. same underlying story - chemical spill on outskirts of town, national guard comes in, the mom has these panic attacks at points relating to a prior illness - good easy read if interested..anyway

Just doing some basic searching, seems like its viral to promote the A&E remake of The Andromeda Strain.

Sightings of an uncanny similarity running around naked are flooding in from all over the world. Parents are warned to keep their children indoors and their blinds drawn.

I'm actually digging all this viral advertisement that movies and tv series are getting into. This "Andromeda Strain" sounds pretty cool!
